Base construction and resource management

On the main island, you must establish a defensive perimeter capable of withstanding enemy attacks. To achieve this, you need to collect wood, stone, iron, and gold, the basic materials that allow you to upgrade your structures and expand your domain. As you level up your headquarters, you unlock cannons, sniper towers, rocket launchers, and mortars that you need to place strategically to protect your storage facilities. These types of mechanics are reminiscent of leading titles in the genre like Clash of Clans, requiring you to optimize the production of supplies while securing every inch of coastline.

Combat system and amphibious assaults

When going on the offensive, the combat system consists of tactical landings from your boats directly onto enemy beaches. You have different types of infantry at your disposal, from basic riflemen and highly resistant units to heavy tanks and flamethrower troops. During the attack, you do not control the soldiers directly, but you have the vital support of an armored ship that allows you to fire artillery, drop medical kits, or use flares to direct the movement of your units toward priority targets, requiring you to carefully manage the ship's supplies so as not to run out of support at the worst possible time.

Exploration of the archipelago and special bosses

The world map is gradually revealed as you make progress, opening up new areas of the ocean filled with islands controlled by the game's AI or by other players. As you liberate occupied villages, the natives reward you with periodic shipments of gold, creating a passive economy that helps you finance more expensive expeditions. In addition to the usual skirmishes, you can face weekly events and infiltrate special boss bases, such as the ones belonging to Doctor T or Lieutenant Hammerman, which pose highly elaborate defensive puzzles and grant you exclusive rewards if you manage to take down their intricate fortresses.

Cooperative operations

If you prefer operating as part of a team, you can join a task force to collaborate with up to 50 commanders from around the world. You all collect military intelligence in your individual battles to fund large-scale joint operations against fortified factories that would be impossible for one single player to destroy. In these cooperative assaults, you need to coordinate with your allies through the internal chat to decide which player attacks first to weaken key points, such as shield generators or giant rocket batteries, allowing the rest of the battalion to advance progressively until the enemy base's core is destroyed, all before the time runs out.

My experience with Boom Beach

After establishing my headquarters on the initial beach, I focused on improving my defenses to prevent enemy attacks. Then I opened the archipelago map and launched an assault on a Blackguard island. I deployed two landing craft followed by a squad, using a gunboat flare to guide them toward a side cannon while throwing them a medkit from the water to heal them. Later, I joined a task force and took part in my first joint operation, sacrificing all my troops to take out a rocket launcher and clear the way for the next comrade's attack. Overall, it is a very fun strategy game with neat graphics, adapting perfectly to PC controls in this Windows version.

What I liked most about Boom Beach and what could be improved

· What I liked most: The tactical component provided by the use of flares and gunboat support to directly guide troops during the heat of battle is a nice touch.

· What could be improved: The construction and upgrade times for buildings at high levels are overly lengthy, forcing you to wait a long time to see them completed.
